BittWare Inc. introduced the fourth product in its family of PCI-DSP bridge chips for Analog Devices Inc.'s (ADI's) sharc DSP design center" target=_blank>tigersharc and SHARC processors. The new SharcFIN 201 (SFIN-201) is a complete, single-chip solution that interfaces the ADSP-TS201S with 64bit, 66MHz PCI with board-level utilities and support software that allow designers to quickly integrate TigerSHARC processors onto a PCI board.

According to the press release, the SFIN-201 is an ideal solution for saving time and money while reducing design risk. Using PCI as a standard bus for system communication and control allows for a more modular design, simplifying system and software development. And since the SharcFIN interfaces the PCI bus directly to the TigerSHARC processor, designers do not need to invest in FPGAs or other PLDs to glue together standard interfaces with the DSPs.

The SFIN-201 for TigerSHARC processors is already available, with OEM quantities priced at $29 per chip. An ADSP-TS101 version of the SharcFIN (SFIN-101), an ADSP-21161 version (SFIN-161), and an ADSP-21160 version (SFIN-160) are also available.

And to help designers get started with their TigerSHARC PCI board designs, BittWare offers a developer's kit for the SFIN-201, which is available for $30,000.
