Due to the growing demand for LCD driver ICs, Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co. (TSMC) expects its semiconductor shipment to grow significantly next quarter.

According to TSMC, several companies have placed orders from them, particularly for 6in wafers. The company has increased its utilization rates for its 0.25?m and 0.35?m process technologies recently. TSMC sees its facility running at full capacity by next quarter.

Further, increasing demand for high-end PC wafers is pushing TSMC's 0.13?m process as well as its more advanced technologies to run at higher utilization rates. Last year, 36 percent of the company's sales were contributed by chips from its 0.135m process technology.

However, the company says utilization rates for 0.15?m and 0.18?m process technologies did not change, although products from both processes have contributed 34 percent of its total sales in the last quarter of 2004.
