TDK Semiconductor Corp. rolled out the latest member of its modem Analog Front End (AFE) family of devices. The new 73M1903C is targeted at the emerging MFP/Fax architectures and features worldwide PSTN compliance with programmable line terminations.

"The 73M1903C integrates many features previously supported with external components and is the lowest cost solution for both low and high speed applications, including V.17/V.34 Fax, MFP, POS and STBs," said Kourosh Boutorabi, product line manager for embedded modems at TDK. "A unique feature of this device is integrated support for software selectable PSTN terminations, which offers designers the ability to meet world requirements with one standard low cost transformer DAA circuit," Boutorabi added.

The 73M1903C includes on-chip PLL, up to 16KHz sample rate, and master/slave or daisy chain processor interfaces.
