Crystek Crystals Corp. has launched its latest high-performance true sinewave voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) in a surface-mount 9 x 14-mm package. The new CVSS-940 exhibits a low phase noise of 150dBc/Hz and 50ppm minimum absolute pull range.

The new VCXO generates frequencies between 77.760MHz and 500MHz with an output level of 0dBm minimum, 50 ohms and harmonics lower than -20dBc. The device consumes 25mA typical and 30mA maximum current at 3.3V. It has low or no sub-harmonics depending on frequency due to the use of inverted mesa (high frequency fundamental crystal) technology.

The VCXO may be specified for telecommunications applications such as 10GbE, broadband networks, SONET/SDH/DWD, network/switch, and ATM communications. For industrial and other rugged uses, an extended temperature operating range of -40C to 85C is available along with other custom specifications.

VCXO pricing starts at $24 each in volume orders, depending on specification. The device is also available directly from Mouser Electronics, which maintains a large selection of Crystek's high-performance devices.
