Tailored to reduce the time and cost of model and controller development in aerospace and automotive applications, Maplesoft has developed the intelligent controller parameterization (ICP) for the Maple suite of rapid control development tools.

ICP for Maple, the first product in the company's MapleConnect Premier series, helps designers easily identify non-linear engineering systems and automatically develop the required controller structure and parameters to achieve design objectives.

ICP for Maple is a one-step process for users who need high precision models of existing dynamic systems, particularly for control design.

When designers input a signal into a system, they can capture the output and generate continuous transfer functions that characterize the system across different operating points. Other system identification tools produce discrete z transfer functions that are only usable at the sample frequency in which the data was captured, the company said.

After a system model is produced, ICP applies algorithms to the plant transfer functions to generate controller structures and parameters without the need to be familiar with the underlying control theory.

The resulting transfer functions can be used directly in a Maple worksheet for frequency and sensitivity analysis.
