LED lights up high intensity apps

Introducing one of the industry's highest powered, single LED devices, a new 3W power LED from American Bright Optoelectronics features high flux density and high lumen output. Available in three styles, the new lead-free devices are offered in a complete, all-in-one light engine or in individual units.

The NovaBrite BWL 3 series offers a rating of 6,500K (IF = 350mA) with an input power of 3W (PD). With high performance InGaN characteristics, the new series features high flux density, high lumen output (60 lm typical), and low power consumption with a viewing angle of 120. The operating temperature range is -40C to 120C.

Offering designers more lighting choices and installation flexibility, the series is offered as a complete light engine, a PC-board mounted unit (light module), or a discrete LED component (emitter). The self-contained light engine is comprised of a miniature 13.5mm? LED unit that is mounted to a tabbed, low-profile 36mm diameter PC-board, installed on a 48-by-20mm aluminum extruded heat sink, pre-wired for one-step installation.

This 3W LED system is available in red, green, blue, amber and white. A RGB version is under development and will be available in May. Two dome lens styles are also available, which create narrower high intensity 30 or 60 degree viewing angles. The series is manufactured in compliance with the EU's RoHS Pb-free materials and processes.

These new devices may be used in a variety of applications include LCD backlighting, and interior lighting for automotive applications as well as a host of general lighting applications that require high intensity, long life, and where thermal management is a key design criteria.

The BWL 3W (white) series is priced from $6.00 each in production quantities. Prices are lower in standard RGB colors. Delivery is from stock or from the factory in special configurations.
