Memory chip maker Nanya Technology Corp. announced that it is recovering profit margins this year with the confirmation of orders from its PC OEM customers after a series of declines incurred during the previous year.

Last quarter, the average selling prices of Nanya's memory chips went down by 24 percent. However, according to Vice President Pei-Lin Pai for Nanya, despite the downtrend in prices, several PC companies already made orders from the company, with OEM production expected to account for 20 percent of Nanya's total capacity this quarter.

Further, Nanya believes that demand for DDR2 chips will surge in the coming months and will likely account for 60 percent and 80 percent shares in the PC market for the third and fourth quarter, respectively. Pai adds that the company has begun shipping 400Hz and 533Hz DDR2 chips and has received validation for its 667Hz DDR2 chips from Intel Corp. Nanya expects to achieve 20 percent production growth this quarter.
