QuickLogic Corp. introduced a programmable controller optimized for the Intel PXA2XX processor line based on Intel Corp.'s xscale technology.
QuickLogic said the ?Watt programmable controller enables designers to expand the PXA2XX processor's native interface set to communicate with IDE-based hard disk drives (HDDs). The controller has been architected specifically to ensure the highest system bandwidth at the lowest power consumption, the company said.
QuickLogic said it has developed a complete HDD solution pack, which includes a daughtercard for the Intel PXA270-based processor developer's kit and a complete board support package for the Windows CE and Windows Mobile operating systems. The company added that a board support package for the Linux OS would be available in the near future.
The HDD solution pack is sampling today and is expected to be in production by the end of May, according to QuickLogic.
