Agilent Technologies Inc. and Computer Simulation Technology (CST) have made two significant advances in the integration of CST's Microwave Studio simulation tool with Agilent's Advanced Design System (ADS) software, the companies.

Agilent and CST have enhanced the importation of layout data from ADS into Microwave Studio. All relevant information, including layers, material properties, frequency range and external ports are imported and 3D EM simulation adjustments are made automatically, the companies said.

The companies have also added a new link for importing parametric S-parameter results from Microwave Studio into ADS. This link allows designers to use the S-parameters to perform parameter sweeps and circuit optimization, including parametric 3D EM structures, interpolating between results for various anchor values, the companies said.

Agilent and CST said the integration of these products helps RF and microwave designers improve passive circuit performance and increase confidence that manufactured products will perform optimally.

The enhanced importation and parametric S-parameter link are implemented in the latest version of CST Microwave Studio, 5.1, as well as Agilent's ADS 2004A. Both are available now, the companies said.

The enhancements were made as part of collaborative technical agreement that Agilent and CST have maintained since June 2004.
