Hynix Semiconductor Inc. registers a 12 percent sequential decrease in its revenues in the first quarter this year.

Hynix says its revenues dropped from $1.46 billion in the last quarter of 2004 to $1.28 billion in the first quarter. The company's operating profits also declined by 30 percent in the same period, from $461.03 million to $322.47 million.

However, Hynix posts 53 percent sequential increase in its net income from $209.96 million to $322.47 million.

The company says the decline in revenues was brought about by the series of price drops in the DRAM sector. However, higher sales from its flash memory chips and NAND flash chips were able to contribute to its increase in net income.
