Falcon Electric's new single-phase SG series Plus uninterruptible power systems (UPSes) for 5kVA and 6kVA service feature a galvanically isolated input, which is unusual for this class of supplies, according to the company.

These true on-line (double conversion) UPSes, working from the 120Vac or 230Vac mains and with an output of 208-, 220-, 230- and 240Vac, are suited to sensitive equipment, for which galvanic isolation is said to afford an extra level of protection. Applications include computer-based LAN and WAN systems, industrial control systems, telecommunications equipment, and laboratory equipment operating in harsh power environments.

Standard features include input power-factor-correction, a wide input voltage window, tight voltage regulation (3 percent), automatic restart, a comprehensive front panel user interface, site wiring indicator and multi-stage surge protection. These products incorporate advanced microprocessor control, monitoring and communications circuitry. Remote management and monitoring functions are available through a standard RS-232 port, or an optional TCP-IP addressable SNMP/HTTP board through a standard 10BaseT Ethernet port. Options include frequency and voltage conversion, a make-before-break maintenance bypass, and extended battery packs and charger options.

Pricing for the new UPSes, which measure approximately 32-by-10-by-22 inches (HWD), ranges from $4,605 to $5,689.
