Rohm Electronics' BD6735FV is a 2-channel H-bridge motor driver that can serve both DC- and stepping-motors for lens driver applications in digital still and digital video cameras. The chip can be switched between forward, reverse, brake, and shutdown (idle) modes, as directed by the input logic.

Designed to work from a 2- to 8-volt supply, the Bi-CDMOS device includes a charge pump, oscillator, two pre-driver blocks, and eight MOSFETs at the output. Thermal-shutdown protection circuitry is included. The chip's MOSFETs feature an on-resistance of 1.35? maximum (at 700 mA). Standby current is low: 1 microamp maximum-a one-third improvement over previous generation devices, according to the company.

The BD6735FV is priced at $1.20 each in quantities of 2,500. Lead time is 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
