Simplo lithium battery shipments to increase

Simplo Technology Co. Ltd announced that it expects its shipment of lithium batteries applied in notebook PCs to reach 4.65 million units in the first half of the year.

Simplo says that it targets a 42 percent growth in its shipment for this year. The company recorded shipments of 2.25 million units last quarter, and anticipates a shipment of 2.4 million units this quarter.

The company is targeting to increase its share in the battery market to 20 percent, from last year's 16 percent.

Hewlett Packard (HP) absorbs 40 percent of its shipment, while Dell and Wistron each absorb 25 percent. Uniwill, an addition to Simplo's customers this year, is expected to absorb 10 percent of its shipment.

Further, Apple has placed orders to Simplo for its PowerBook, with shipment of the products expected to begin by yearend.
