Ericsson will establish a new R&D center in Nanjing, China to focus on the development of TD-SCDMA product offerings.

The R&D center is anticipated to fully leverage Ericsson's technologies and solutions in 3G, as well as local R&D capabilities. The center will allow Ericsson to further enhance and complete its TD-SCDMA offerings. The TD-SCDMA R&D center is initially expected to have 50 research staffs.

As part of its commitment to delivering TD-SCDMA solutions for local markets, Ericsson also announced a strategic alliance agreement with Zhongxing Telecom Equipment Corp. (ZTE) to collaborate in the TD-SCDMA area.

Moreover, Ericsson developed 3G/W-CDMA radio base station products in November 2004, demonstrating its local R&D and production capabilities in 3G.
