Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that its WirelessUSB radio system-on-a-chip will now be shipped in keyboards and mice manufactured by Lenovo.

The devices have been shipping in volume to IBM since December 2004 when it introduced the enhanced performance wireless keyboard and mouse, which are now part of Lenovo's product portfolio.

The company's WirelessUSB is a high-performance, reliable wireless solution. It operates in the 2.4GHz global ISM band, so customers can use it worldwide, regardless of regional frequency requirements, an important attribute for a global supplier such as Lenovo.

In addition to WirelessUSB, the new keyboards and mice also include wired USB controllers and Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC) solutions from Cypress.

"We are pleased to support Lenovo as it transitions to a global leader in the PC market," said Ralph Schmitt, Cypress's EVP of sales and marketing.

"As a long-term supplier of clock solutions, USB controllers, and other products to the former IBM personal computing division, we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with Lenovo as it expands its brand globally," Schmitt added.
