Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology Co. (BOE OT) will increase its monthly output of glass sheets from 30,000 units to 60,000 units at its 5G line in the second half of the year.

BOE OT says that it will double its output for glass sheets using 1,100-by-1,300mm mother glass at its 5G line in the second half of the year. The company expects the monthly output to reach 85,000 units by next year. It says it has already acquired verification for its 17- and 19-inch monitor LCD modules from various clients.

"With the G5 line in full operation, production lines in South Korea and mainland China will be more efficiently used, creating considerable market advantages," says B.D. Choi, president and chief executive of BOE OT and South Korea-based Boe Hydis Technology Co. Ltd.

Claiming to own the largest TFT LCD production plant in mainland China, BOE OT also announced that it has commenced mass production at its flat panel display facility. It expects to share a sizable portion of the global market's flat panel displays in the near future.
