The WLAN products from Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) have been selected by AboCom Systems, an embedded WLAN ODM, for its universal serial bus (USB) adapter and residential gateway (RG) module product lines for RG market.

Based on TI's TNETW1450 WLAN solution, AboCom has developed a compact WUG2400 USB adapter which plugs into the computer's USB port to enable seamless wireless connectivity.

"RG manufacturers need high power WLAN solutions for extended range and throughput that can be easily embedded into their systems," said Wen Tsay, CTO and wireless product line manager for AboCom. "AboCom's new product line of USB adapters and RG modules incorporates TI's latest WLAN technology to address these issues with 23 dBm output power capability and TI's 125Mbps equivalent G++ Mode, enabling throughput up to 36Mpbs," Tsay.

In addition, AboCom's WCM510T RG module incorporates TI's TNETW1350A solution and features and industry leading 23dBm output power capability. This product will provide RG manufacturers with a high power, extended range WLAN component for their next generation gateways.

"AboCom and TI have a great collaborative relationship and together we continue to deliver differentiated high power WLAN solutions for extended range and throughput," said Dennis Rauschmayer, director of marketing for TI's residential gateway and embedded systems group.
