Altera Corp. announced a new digital signal processing (DSP) development kit that includes a DSP development board, Quartus II software v5.0, the newly-released DSP Builder version 5.0, DSP system reference designs, and an evaluation version of The MathWorks' latest MATLAB/Simulink software update.

The DSP kit's development board is based on the Stratix II ep2s180 FPGA. According to Altera, it is the largest FPGA in the industry, offering five percent more logic, 50 percent more memory, four times more DSP resources, and 21 percent more user I/O pins than any other available FPGA.

"With this new flagship DSP development kit, Altera continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing leading-edge DSP design tools," said Brian Jentz, the company's DSP marketing manager. "In one complete package, designers get the hardware and software tools they need to create world-class DSP systems using the industry's leading FPGA family."

Priced at $5,995, the new DSP development kit is already available for orders (order code: DSP-DEVKIT-2S180) and will ship in Q3 2005. Additional information on the kit can be found online.
