IDT bares prototype for switching datapath interworking solutions

To further the development of advanced switching interconnect (ASI)-based systems, Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDT) has demonstrated an FPGA-based prototype technology that presented the interworking of the common switch interface (CSIX) datapath protocol into ASI.

The prototype technology, which uses the generic data transport protocol interface, or PI-2, specified by the ASI Special Interest Group (SIG), is anticipated to enable customers to develop early prototype systems based on ASI with a seamless migration to production platforms.

Applications targeted are up to 10Gbps line-card subsystems in full carrier-class communications platforms, such as multi-service access routers and broadband remote access servers.

As part of the IDT strategy for supporting standards-based switching solutions, the company may leverage this technology as the basis for subsequent offerings related to the connectivity and interworking of various endpoint devices, including NPUs, ?P, DSPs and CPUs.

The IDT prototype technology will be delivered in a mezzanine card for use in ATCA-based carrier boards or in an FPGA bit stream format for customer-specific sub-systems designs.
