Pericom's new HDMI switch device provides 1.65Gbps data rate

HDMI switch devicePericom Semiconductor Corp., a supplier of high-speed ICs and frequency control products, unveiled its new High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) switch device that features a maximum DVI/HDMI data rate of 1.65Gbps, providing the 1,920 x 1,080 resolution required by next generation HDTV and PC graphics applications.

The PI3HDMI412 (4-Differential Channel, 2:1 Mux/DeMux) DVI/HDMI signal switch was designed using high-speed differential broadband switching technology that provides industry proven DVI/HDMI TMDS signal processing, said the press release. "Today's advanced and developing consumer video networks are requiring two or more DVI/HDMI video sources to be connected to the display units. This requires Muxing/DeMuxing capability at either the receiver end, or at the source end," explained Shaf Rahman, Director of Marketing. "Our new DVI/HDMI differential video signal switch is targeted for these high-resolution video networks that are based on DVI/HDMI standards, and TMDS signal processing"

The PI3HDMI412 IC supports the transmitting of digital television audiovisual signals from DVD players, STBs and additional audio-visual sources to television sets, projectors and other video displays.
