Offer a 76% reduction in footprintNEC Corp. has introduced three new SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) GaAs IC switches in 6-pin TQFN packages that measure 1mm? and 0.37mm high. Compared to the industry-standard SOT-363 package, these TQFN switches offer a 76 percent reduction in footprint and a 61 percent reduction in height.

This ultra-low profile gives module designers an alternative to using die in their modules or other height-constrained designs. These new SPDTs operate from UHF to 3GHz with low insertion loss and high isolation.

The?PG2158T5K features dual control, 0.45dB insertion loss at 2GHz, 19dB isolation at 2GHz, and 30.5dBm output power at 1dB compression when powered by 2.7Vdc; the?PG2159T5K features dual control, 0.35dB insertion loss at 2GHz, 25dB isolation at 2GHz, and 26dBm output power at 1dB compression when powered by 2.7Vdc; and the?PG2160T5K features single control, 0.35dB insertion loss at 2GHz, 18dB isolation at 2GHz, and 24dBm output power at 1dB compression when powered by 2.6Vdc.

Design samples of these three devices are already available, with mass production scheduled in August 2005. The?PG2158T5K and?PG2159T5K are priced at 28 cents, and the?PG2160T5K at 30 cents, both in 100,000 quantities. Evaluation boards are also available.
