O2Micro Int. Ltd was granted 23 claims under United States patent number 6,879,134 for its selector circuit for power management in multiple battery systems.

The company's patented selector circuit, used with multiple battery systems, can verify power conditions and override instructions from an electronic device's power management unit to enhance power supply safety and battery life. It is typically used in a power supply block for various electronic applications such as notebook computers.

"The patented design now permits such circuits to independently ascertain, correct, and notify other components in the power supply block of a power crisis condition," remarked Alex Hartular, VP of O2Micro's Intelligent Power business unit.
