Acacia Research Corp. has announced that its Tech Search LLC subsidiary has entered into a non-exclusive license with National Instruments covering a portfolio of patents that apply to computer simulation systems.

National's patents cover aspects of computer simulation systems which can iteratively simulate a complex system represented by a network of interconnected function blocks and enable the user to graphically program their simulations.

Acacia (Newport Beach, Calif.) develops, acquires, and licenses patented technologies. It currently controls 30 patent portfolios.

"We have now generated revenues from seven licensing programs this year," said Paul Ryan, chairman and chief executive of Acacia, in a statement. "In addition to the computer simulation technology, we have begun generating revenues from our compact disk, credit card fraud protection, digital video production, interactive television, and multi-dimensional bar code technologies and continue to expand our Digital Media Transmission licensing program," he added.
