PVI targets 25 percent boost in panel shipment

Prime View Int. Ltd (PVI) will target a 25 percent increase in its shipment of small-to medium-sized panels from 8 million units last year to 10 million units this year.

PVI has increased its purchase of unfinished panels from panel makers including Chi Mei Optoelectronics, Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd and HannStar Display Corp. The panels are then passed to Lightsonic Optoelectronics for processing.

The company's subsidiary in mainland China is also expected to expand its monthly capacity in the next quarter from 1 million units to 1.2 million units.

Increasing demand for small-to-medium-sized panels and stable prices for car-use displays are expected to push the company's net income this month, apart from the reduction in its production costs.

Incidentally, PVI will also be completing installation of equipment at its color filter line next quarter and is expected to commence production by the last quarter of the year with a maximum capacity of 48,000 substrates.
