India's TCS inked for Chinese software venture

India Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India's leading software export services companies, has announced a joint venture with the Chinese government and Microsoft Corp. to set up a new entity to address Chinese software and global market needs.
According to reports, the Sino-India Cooperative Office (SICO) selected TCS and Microsoft for the venture, along with the Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park Development Company Ltd, Uniware Company Ltd and Tianjin Huayuan Software Park Construction and Development Co. Ltd. as partners in the new venture.
The joint venture company will be located in Zhongguancun Software Park in Beijing and start operations early next year. It will provide IT outsourcing services and solutions to the global market and expects to serve as a business model for the growing Chinese software industry, said reports.
Other Indian companies, including Infosys Technologies Ltd and Satyam Computer Services Ltd, were believed to have been in the running for the joint venture.
