Volterra Semiconductor Corp. announced that three magnetic component manufacturers, Cooper Electronic Technologies, Pulse Engineering and Vitec Electronics Corporation, have agreed to manufacture multi-phase coupled inductors under a license from Volterra.

The magnetic components, when combined with Volterra's recently introduced fourth generation voltage regulator semiconductor chipsets according to Volterra's U.S. patent number 6,362,986, can result in significant reductions in overall system cost and the quantity and size of external components.

LogicVision's comprehensive LV2005 product line includes ETCreate, which imbeds proprietary test technology within a semiconductor design, and ETAccess, which provides unparalleled use of the embedded test technology for diagnostics and fast silicon bring-up. In addition, the SiVision software gives product engineers the ability to accelerate silicon volume ramp through the identification of yield limiters related to both design and process issues. Together these products can provide considerable insight on maximizing yield, while allowing customers to experience unmatched test quality and hence decreased field returns, reduced cost of test, and accelerated time-to-market.

Under the agreement, STI will sell LogicVision's proprietary LV2005 product line, providing an integrated solution for at-speed debug, characterization, manufacturing test and production analysis of complex semiconductors to the European community. STI's head office is based in Marolles en Brie in France, with additional service offices located in Grenoble, Italy and Malta.
