Foundry chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co. Ltd (TSMC) has declined to comment on an Economic Daily News report that it has agreed to make flash memory chips for Spansion LLC, according to an AFX News report.

The newspaper said TSMC would initially make a minimum of 3,000 wafers per month for Spansion, rising to 20,000 wafers per month in full production, according to the AFX News report.

"We have no comment on the matter," the AFX News report quoted a TSMC spokesman, as saying.

Spansion is a joint venture between Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Fujitsu Ltd.
