Advanced Power Technology (APT) announced an extension of its next generation DQ fast recovery epitaxial diodes (FREDs). Early this year, the company launched 600V parts. Today, APT is extending their product offering to include 1,000V and 1,200V products, ranging in current from 8A to 100A, in packages including TO-220, TO-247 and SOT-227, or in chip form.

According to the company, key features include extremely soft recover, which reduces EMI and eliminates the need for snubbers; extremely fast reverse recovery for low switching losses; avalanche energy rated for ruggedness and high reliability; low leakage for thermally stable and low static losses; and platinum doping for low leakage and improved reliability at high temperature.

Target applications for the DQ FREDs include switch mode power supplies, alternative energy inverters, motor drives and other industrial applications. The diodes can also be used as snubber diodes, hard-switched PFC boost diodes and free-wheeling diodes.

Samples of the new diodes are already available, with lead times for large quantities set at 12 weeks. Pricing ranges from 86 cents up for 1,000-piece orders. Detailed data sheets of the DQ FREDs can be found at the company's website.
