Recently, there has been a shift from analog to digital for all types of broadcasting equipment. Connections between various types of equipment are direct connections using component signals, and therefore a wider frequency range is starting to be demanded of input switching ICs.
Component signal pin (or D pin) video signals are composed of three linesluminance (Y) and color difference (Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr). Mitsumi Electric Co. Ltd explained that these signals are important for reproducing the images, so they must remain flat up to a high frequency. As a response, the company released its MM1731 to 1734 series of wideband video switch ICs that feature a frequency response of 01dB (50MHz/1MHz), total harmonic distortion of 0.03 percent typical, output dynamic range of 2.8V minimum and cross-talk of -70dB typical (4.43HMz).
With a recommended power supply voltage from 4.5V to 9.5V, the versatile single-function switch with 2 inputs and 1 output, has a 10mA typical (Vcc: 5V) power consumption and 00.3dB (SIN wave: 1MHz) power gain.
The MM1731 (no clamp), MM1732 (1 clamp), MM1733 (2 clamps) and MM1734 (3 clamps) switches are available in the SOP16 package that measure 10.2-by-6.2-by-1.55mm (including pins), and the TSOP16, which measures 6.4-by-5-by-1.1mm.
