The Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage standard products by LSI Logic Corp. will be integrated into eight HP ProLiant enterprise server platforms. Aside from the HP ProLiant, LSI Logic's SAS products will also be made available in HP Integrity and HP StorageWorks over the next 12 months.

LSI Logic believes that its SAS design wins underscore its technology position, ability to deliver first-to-market solutions, proven interoperability and world class technical support.

IDC estimates the server market will grow from 5.3 million units in 2003 to 7.9 million units in 2006. One data point used to make market projections is shipment estimates for the major server market suppliers such as HP, Dell, IBM, Sun and FSC. Together, these five represented 77.2 percent of the worldwide server shipments in 2003, according to IDC.

LSI Logic is shipping 4-port and 8-port SAS controller ICs, (the LSISAS1064 and LSISAS1068), SAS expander ICs and SAS HBAs. All products use the Fusion-MPT (Message Passing Technology) architecture to speed OEM development time and increase reliability. The company also supplies a full line of MegaRAID SAS adapter cards and RAID on motherboard (ROMB) solutions.
