Sirenza Microdevices announced the release of the first in a new family of phase-locked loop (PLL) synthesizer modules, the PLL350-2444, targeting WiMAX (802.16-2004) infrastructure applications.

Spanning 2.34GHz to 2.54GHz, the PLL350-2444 modules offer a complete synthesizer module integrating a voltage-controlled oscillator, PLL IC, loop filter components and buffer amplifiers, in a very small form factor. Typical settling time is 10ms (to within 1kHz); typical output power is -1dBm, and typical output phase noise at 10kHz is -93dBc/Hz. The modules are designed to simplify system-level design, reduce the parts count, speed time to market, and minimize printed circuit board space.

In addition to this new family of catalog models, the company is also working closely with several WiMAX equipment OEMs to develop custom voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) and PLL modules for new WiMAX radio designs that operate in the 2.3-, 2.5-, 3.5- and 5.8GHz bands.

"These products illustrate Sirenza's continued commitment to diversifying its product lines and extending its reach into a wider variety of markets," stated Clark Ragan, director of sales and marketing, signal source division. "We see significant opportunities for the growth of new markets such as WiMAX."
