Altera adds faster speed grade to Stratix II devices

Altera Corp. disclosed that it is offering a new, faster speed grade for the largest two members of its Stratix II family—the EP2S130 and EP2S180 devices.

According to the press release, the company added the new speed grade (-3) to the two devices following their successful production qualification and outstanding yield. The new speed grade enables a 500MHz internal clock frequency, which is a 20 percent speed increase compared to the previous offerings.

The new -3 speed grade for EP2S130 and EP2S180 FPGAs is already available. All Stratix II devices have been in production since June. In addition, industrial-temperature and Pb-free Stratix II devices are now available.
