Manufacturer of interconnect products and technologies ERNI Electronics Inc. held a sales conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in May as the company becomes aggressive in broadening its presence in Asia.

The conference was attended by several ERNI personnel and various distributors in Asia. The company indicated its awareness of the growing Asian market, eyeing a potential increase in sales and revenues.

"Asia, today, is certainly one of the most important markets worldwide. More and more design-ins from Europe and America are being manufactured in Asia," says Walter Regli, ERNI Group's president and chief executive. "In addition, first-class Asian OEMs, R&D groups and ODMs are doing a lot of designs in Asia. Our business is intimately involved from design stage to production, so it is natural for ERNI to increase its focus on Asia," he adds.

The distributors also indicated the advantage of such sales conference as the one given by ERNI. "It's a great way to reinforce our relationships, and to raise concerns and discuss market trends that help both ERNI and distributors deliver the right components at the right times," says Michael Wong, general manager of Taiwan-based A&A Electronics.
