Crucial Technology has added a 1GHz, PC2-8000 (DDR2-1000) dual in-line memory module (DIMM) to its ballistix product line.

Crucial, a division of Micron Semiconductor Products Inc., is also offering a pair of DIMMs that are optimized to perform in motherboards designed with intel 925XE and 955X Express chipsets. The PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) and PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) low-latency memory devices are aimed at computer gamers seeking maximum system performance at a competitive price point.

All three 240-pin, DDR2 unbuffered SDRAM DIMMs come in 512MB and 1GB densities.

"Consumers today seem to have an opinion on whether high frequency or low latency is the more important attribute for leading-edge memory modulesthe Crucial Ballistix line offers the best of both worlds," said John Stroozas, Crucial Technical Director of Engineering.

In 1GB densities, the price of the PC2-8000 device is $330.99; the PC2-6400 is $230.99, and the PC2-5300 is $225.99. In 512MB densities, the PC2-8000 costs $165.99, the PC2-6400, $100.99, and the PC2-5300, $95.99.
