Trompeter's mini BNC connector delivers 40% greater density

Deliver 40% greater densityTrompeter Electronics has developed a new 90, miniature BNC connector that is said to deliver 40 percent greater density. The new UPLR250 right-angle interconnect is designed to help engineers increase connector density and reduce the size of OEM equipment.

The patent-pending M-BNC series evolved from Trompeter's flagship UPL220 full-size BNC series, and features the same true 75? impedance throughout with excellent return loss performance, according to the company. The M-BNC series includes straight and right-angle plugs, bulkhead cable jacks and straight or 90 PCB-mount jacks (in traditional nickel or a highly solderable gold plate).

Special design features include fully enclosed beryllium copper spring fingers, and 0.000050-in. thick gold-plated beryllium copper center contacts with plating weep hole. It also features a nail head with a tapered lead-in for center wire, and positive tactile full engagement feedback upon engaging with the dielectric. Dielectrics are made of solid PTFE (Teflon) and a unique ferrule design with a tapered lead end that enables proper braid positioning with high cable retention.

These products target high reliability, high data-rate and/or high frequency applications such as central office DS3 and other carrier class applications. Matched to telco industry-standard BNC installation tools, the new M-BNC does not require re-tooling or training for the cable side of the interconnect mated pair, and is said to deliver excellent frequency response over an extended bandwidth.

The UPLR250 is priced at $9.54 in quantities of 1,000.
