Intel in training tie-up with India's NIIT

Starting with India, chip maker Intel Corp. and Indian software training firm NIIT, are to roll out a program across China and Asia-Pacific aimed at getting software developers and architects to optimize software performance on Intel architectures.

At least 50,000 people will be trained in India during the next three years, adding a large pool to the already existing developer community familiar with Intel platforms.

The program is set to start with a focus on multi-core processing at labs set up in 10 major Indian cities, and that are intended to set a template for counterparts elsewhere in the world. The next phase should see Intel and NIIT roll out the program to Chinawhere NIIT is already presentand other Asia-Pacific countries, said Rajendra Pawar, chairman, NIIT Ltd. (New Delhi).
