Synopsys Inc. announced that it is the first to demonstrate a device controller based on USB-IF's Certified Wireless USB specification, the new wireless extension to USB that combines the speed and security of wired technology with the ease-of-use of wireless technology.

"As the world leader in connectivity IP, Synopsys' demonstration of a wireless USB device proves the standard and ecosystem are now ready for broad-based implementation," said Guri Stark, VP pf Synopsys' Solutions Group. "Our early involvement will help accelerate the adoption of the standard in the embedded IP market."

The USB-IF Certified Wireless USB specification builds on the success of wired USB and helps move USB technology into the wireless future. This specification gives portable devices such as PCs or consumer electronics the ability to connect without cables. Certified Wireless USB supports high-bandwidth data streams, while requiring only a fraction of the power of existing standards.
