Design services company eInfochips will unveil a keyboard video mouse-over-IP later this year based on an FPGA platform.

The company said it will likely follow it up with an ASIC-based version by mid-2006. Both developments are unique in India, where hardware development has been slow to emerge.

EInfochips, headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., and Ahmedabad, India, will demonstrate the IP solution using a Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA at the GSPX Conference in Santa Clara in October. Features include video processing in hardware and a platform-independent Java-based client application with user management features.

The company said it was too soon to discuss the features planned for the ASIC version since development will be based on market feedback.

It does plan to step up product development. "This solution, essentially a streaming video application, is an important system-level product IP for us," said Tapan Joshi, eInfochips' vice president of marketing. "This solution will help us address high-end security surveillance, medical imaging and the automotive safety markets."
