Manufacturers of passive components expect demand to increase in the remainder of the year.

One of mainland China's largest passives makers, Yageo Corp., expects its sales to surge by 6 percent to 10 percent in the third quarter on back-to-school seasonal demand. Yageo also said that oil price hikes are not likely to affect the prices of passives due to the minimal oil required for production.

Taiwan-based Walsin Technology Corp. (WTC) also forecasts that increased demand will ease its inventory levels, even as Holy Stone Ent. Co. Ltd announced that large orders have been made due to the seasonal pick-up in demand. Holy Stone stated that it had to extend the delivery time for its high-voltage multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) to two weeks during the second quarter because of increased orders.
