Realtek Semiconductor Corp. unveiled what it touts as the world's first USB 2.0 all-in-one (CF/SM/SD/MMC/MS/xD/MD) card reader controller with integrated 5V/3.3V regulator and power MOSFET.

According to the company, the new RTS5111 chip enables a substantial reduction in system costs and provides a highly economic and competitive solution for card reader manufacturers. It complies with the latest standards for various memory cards, including CompactFlash, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard and those of giant suppliers, such as the Sandisk ExtremeIII series and Samsung MultiMediaCard. Realtek added that with high read/write speed and integration of power components, the RTS5111 provides maximum competitiveness for customers and delivers outstanding convenience and satisfaction to end users.

The RTS5111 supports all the memory cards that the Realtek RTS5101 series supports. This new product has obtained Microsoft WHQL XP certification and is compliant with the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) specification.
