Supports <a href=uwb standard" ALIGN="RIGHT">Ellisys, a supplier of USB test solutions, has introduced a protocol analyzer that supports analyzing WiMedia ultra wideband (UWB) and Certified Wireless USB standards over the air.

The Wireless Explorer 300 improves firmware and driver development, prevents interoperability issues, verifies data encryption, optimizes performance, tunes power management and improves communication reliability, according to the press release.

The protocol analyzer aims to help developers produce better devices more efficiently. It can record and decode WiMedia UWB and Certified Wireless USB 2.0 protocols from different perspectives. It has an external omni-directional antenna that can record traffic exchanged over the air between devices to assess true wireless behavior. In addition, the Wireless USB Explorer 300 can capture traffic between a MAC and a PHY from boards currently in the design phase through an alternative setup.

Other applications include verifying wireless encryption and 4-way handshake session key exchange, and monitoring wireless communication reliability and efficiency.

The Wireless USB Explorer 300 is based on the WiMedia PHY specification. It operates in the 3.1GHz to 4.8GHz band, and supports speeds of up to 480Mbps with an external omni-directional antenna. The protocol analyzer has 1GB of FIFO memory and transmits traffic in real time. It comes in a 150-by-120-by-65mm, 850 gram enclosure and a three-year warranty.
