Flash drive controller enables cheaper flash storage devices

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. unveiled a high-performance solution for dual-channel and MLC (Multi-Level Cell) flash memory devices that integrates a 5V/3.3V regulator, helping to lower manufacturing costs of flash storage devices.

The RTS5113 chip, USB 2.0 flash drive controller, supports popular flash memory cards, including the latest flash products from Samsung, Toshiba, Hynix, Micron, Renesas and STMicroelectronics. Outperforming its rivals and offering an unsurpassed read/write speed (26MB/16MB), Realtek said, the RTS5113 provides an excellent solution for high-performance, high-density memory cards, delivering superb convenience and satisfaction to end users.

Packaged in a 48-pin LQFP, the RTS5113 features a high performance and cost ratio. The chip has obtained Microsoft WHQL XP certification and is USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) compliant.
