Constructed from pure aluminum, oxygen-free copper

Cool Innovations Inc. said a first of its kind UltraCool P line of splayed pin fin heatsink produces a cooling premium of 20 to 30 percent compared to standard pin fin heatsinks when operating in low air-speed environments and in the natural convection mode.

UltraCool P pin fins feature an array of round pins that are splayed outwards. While they possess the same large surface area of conventional pin fin heatsinks, they are not as densely configured. This sparse configuration enables surrounding airflows to enter and exit the pin array in a significantly more efficient manner, said the company. As a result, splayed pin fins are able to offer up to a 30 percent performance premium over conventional pin fin heatsinks.

These new pin fin heatsinks are constructed from pure aluminum and oxygen-free copper. They are available in a wide variety of standard sizes, ranging in footprints from 0.5-by-0.5-inch to 2-by-2-inches, and in height profiles from 0.2 to 1.1 inches. The new splayed line is suitable for any surface-mount package type and is offered with pre-applied double-sided thermal tape as well as mechanical clips.

Pricing for the new UltraCool P heatsinks starts at $1.50 each. Delivery is one to two weeks.
