Quad drivers deliver the sharper image

The MD1810 and MD1811 quad drivers from Supertex are designed for MOSFETs that drive a high capacitance load, such as required in ultrasound imaging and CCD-based products. Both high-speed ICs feature a rise and fall time of six nanoseconds for a 1,000pF load. Their low-jitter design is intended to ensure accurate Doppler measurement and clearer imaging.

"The widespread adoption of ultrasound and other imaging technologies has fueled the demand for high performance components," said Ahmed Masood, director of marketing. "The MD1810 and MD1811 are part of a growing family of advanced drivers that deliver the critical performance and functionality required for these challenging applications."

The MD1810 has four inputs that individually control four output buffer stages. The MD1811 provides more flexibility in its input to output circuitry, the outputs of which are AND/NAND gates. Each IC can swing below ground, and thus the chips are suited to driving both n- and p-channel FETs (p-channel driving more easily implemented with the MD1811).

The MD1810 and MD1811 chips, available in 16-lead QFN packages that are green and RoHS compliant, are priced at $2.85, and $2.88, respectively, in 1,000-unit quantities. Lead time for production quantities is 4 to 6 weeks ARO.
