Micrel announced a new 150mA LDO with an ultra-low dropout of 60mV (typ) at 150mA. The MIC5306 features ultra-low Iq of 16?A (typ) and 0.01?A shutdown current. With a wide Vin range of 2.25V to 5.5V, this product is also ?cap stable.

According to Ralf Muenster, Micrel's director of marketing for power products, the MIC5306 offers industry-leading transient response and low output noise without compromise on PSRR performance, making it an ideal product to power digital logic in portable applications, including cellphones, PDAs, notebook computers, MP3 players and digital cameras.

"Designing a low quiescent current LDO without compromising on specifications critical in portable applications is a challenging task," Muenster added.

The MIC5306 offers an output voltage accuracy of 2 percent over the full industrial temperature range of -40C to 125C. It is available in fixed output voltages and is offered in thin SOT-23-5 packaging. It is currently available in volume orders, with pricing starting at 43 cents for 1,000-unit orders.
