Rated at 100mA at 12Vdc

NKK Switches has improved its KP01 series of silent actuation pushbutton switches with the addition of RGB LED technology that enables audio/video (A/V) and broadcast designers to customize control panels with specific colors. The RGB LED option also provides low power consumption and a low heat solution.

The KP01 series is available in a single pole/single throw, momentary-action configuration and is rated at 100mA (max) at 12Vdc. The new switches feature twin contacts with gold plating to ensure contact reliability. In addition, they offer a mechanical and electrical life minimum rating of 5,000,000 actuations.

In addition to the RGB LED option, these KP01 switches can also be constructed with a red/green, built-in, bicolor LED, which provides bright illumination. An amber color can also be produced by simultaneous illumination of the red and green LEDs, said the company. The new built-in LED option also saves engineers from having to source, install or assemble an LED for their new designs.

The enhanced KP01 switch also includes a specially designed, snap-in standoff for secure PC-board mounting and alignment, and offers a standard 0.100-inch PC-board spacing. Terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux, dust and other contaminants.

Available in three different cap sizes of 12-, 15- and 17.4mm, NKK said it's the first manufacturer to offer all three cap sizes with the same height dimension off the PC board. In addition, the height of the KP01 series is equal to the height of NKK's programmable LCD switch, the IS SmartSwitch series. The switch measures 23mm from the PC-board to the top of the cap and features a long travel of 4.5mm. The sculptured square caps provide easy installation of film inserts.

The KP01 series also offers an option between tactile and non-tactile actuation, and is designed to give positive indication of circuit transfer as well as smooth operation. Engineers can request legend packets.

The KP01 switch series is priced at $7 each in quantities of 5,000. Delivery is eight weeks.
