National Instruments Corp. (NI) has completed the corporate-wide implementation of Optel, Optimal Electronics Corp.'s MES solution, across manufacturing facilities. Optel offers maximum control, flexibility, and interconnectivity with assembly line equipment.

After extensive benchmarking of MES providers, NI said it chose Optel as the best solution for improving manufacturing productivity, visibility and traceability.

"The software's ease of deployment, scalability and combination of data preparation, product data management, and manufacturing execution within a single system delivers a unique competitive edge for NI.

Prior to Optel, the new product introduction (NPI) process required several hours to prepare, schedule, and assign a new job to an assembly line. With Optel, it takes a matter of minutes, and we now have the flexibility, as our priorities change, to modify jobs on the fly using Optel's unique capabilities," says Suresh Sundarababu, engineering manager at National Instruments.
