Vishay Intertechnology Inc. extended the IHLP family of low-profile, high-current inductors with a new device that offers one of the lowest DCR/?H available in a 10.2-by-10.2mm package with a 4mm height profile.

According to the press release, the new IHLP-4040DZ-15 is a high-performance, space- and power-saving solution that features industry-leading specifications including DCR values down to 0.50 milliohm at 0.19?H. This new Vishay Dale power inductor is designed for DC/DC converter applications in end products, including next-generation mobile devices, notebooks, desktop computers, servers and graphics cards, and low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters. This new product can also be used in distributed power systems and to regulate power for FPGAs.

The IHLP-4040DZ-15 also handles high transient current spikes without saturation and operates over a frequency range up to 1MHz. Saturation current and typical DCR values for the inductor range up to 44A and from 0.50 milliohm to 5.20 milliohms, respectively, over an inductance range of 0.19?H to 2?H. Inductance tolerance for the new device is 20 percent.
