M/A-COM attenuator bundles high accuracy with low cost

M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, recently unveiled a RoHS-compliant 5bit serial controlled attenuator targeted at applications that require high accuracy and monotonic performance at a low cost.

The MAATSS0022 is a 0.5dB step GaAs MMIC digital attenuator with 15.5dB attenuation range in a Pb-free MSOP-10 package. This digital attenuator requires external DC blocking capacitors on the RF ports, single positive supply voltage and five individual bit control voltages. It is suitable for products that require high attenuation accuracy, low insertion loss and low inter-modulation. Typical applications include base stations, wireless data and wireless local loop gain level control circuits.

The MAATSS0022 is fabricated using M/A-COM's GaAs 1?m process, which features full chip passivation for increased performance and reliability.

The new attenuator is available from stock and is priced at $1.90 in quantities of 10,000.
