Honeywell grants display license to Toshiba

Honeywell has granted a license for patented LCD technology to Toshiba Corp. and Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Co. Ltd. The technology improves the brightness of images and reduces some interference effects found on LCDs.

"We welcome Toshiba and TMD to our licensing to our licensing program and are pleased that they and their customers and users will benefit from Honeywell's technology," said Loria Yeadon, CEO of Honeywell Intellectual Properties Inc.

Other companies that have licensed the technology in the past include Sharp Corp., Sanyo Electric, Chunghwa Picture Tubes, LG.Philips LCD, NEC LCD Chi Mei Optoelectronics and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

LCDs are used in many consumer electronics products such as portable LCD TVs, PDAs, mobile phones, notebook computers, digital still cameras and desktop PC monitors.
